Damn the Chem 2003 Nov. Paper!
I find it unfair, unfair that the movies I want to watch come out at inappropriate times of the year. First, it was War of the Worlds, right smack in the middle of the JCTs (which I thankfully caught when the exams ended, considering they last only a week). Now we have Bewitched, and soon (I reckon) Corpse Bride. Damn, I wanna watch them!!! I hate JC life, repeat after me, I hate JC life. Maybe I'll just take a day (maybe 2 half days) off to watch them, maybe *crosses fingers*

I woke up this morning, and realised... that I missed the submission date for the Bio S paper assignment. Lol, it was supposed to be submitted on Monday, and turkey-brained me thought it's TOMORROW. Wow, talk abou a sudden realisation.

Yesterday was a harrowing day for me. I FINALLY completed the Nov. 2003 A Level Chemistry Paper (which I started on Sunday , well not exactly, since I only completed the MCQs , well half of it, on Sunday, and proceeded to use Monday to complete the MCQs plus the first question of Paper 2). I was soooooo annoyed, frustrated, angry, exasperated, and was at my wits end when I finished the paper, some 8 hours after I started on it for the day. My brain felt like it had been put through a mortar and pestle, followed by the grinder, before it was finally pulverised by a beam of laser. Talk about pain. My table was in a constant MESS as I struggled my a$$ through the paper (got the pics to prove it, will upload later). Stuff on my table? Let's see, shall we?

  • Chemistry Textbook (I use it for external reference)
  • Chemistry TYS (to check ans =P, if available, that is)
  • A pad of foolscap paper
  • Calculator
  • Pencil case
  • Watch
  • Graph Paper
  • Chemistry Notes for Thermochem, Electrochem, and all sorts of Organic Chem notes, not forgetting my Biochem notes
  • My Clay Aiken S/way single which I have been too lazy to put away (I have a second UNOPENED copy in the cupboard*smirks*)
  • My mobile phone, except it's in my hands as I was taking the pic
  • Comp speakers
  • My LCD 17" screen =)
  • The webcam, sitting albeit unhappily on one of the speakers
  • My Epson printer
  • The CPU
  • My painkillers from the dentist (Mefenamic Acid, or so it reads)
  • Cloth(s) to clean my specs with
  • My last letter from my ex-mortal, Teresa
  • Masking Tape (I always need them at strange times)
  • Batteries (in case my batttery-operated wireless mouse or keyboard dies on me)
  • My root remnant, sitting "happily" next to the keyboard
Does that sound like a mess or what? Lol. Anyway, after I was done with Chem, I watched the National Day Parade on tv. Haha, but somehow, after being put through 4 years of torturous foot drill in secondary school, I come out appreciating the parade segment more than the show itself. I have a thing for the Guard-Of-Honour (GOH) contingent. I find it inhumane that they can march in perfect precision. In TKGS, we tried for 4 freaking years and only managed to do somewhat close to that ONCE. Yet, these people made it look like chicken feet. It was like a "Hey! Look at me, this is sooooo easy!" At least for them. I still like the Navy's uniform =) I find it suave. Any Navy guy with that uniform is welcomed to try and sweep me off my feet with that uniform =D. I'm not saying it'll work, but, haha, that'd be nice. Haha, I spent the time during the march pass gawking at the Navy guys (and gals, though they weren't noticeable if there were any). Rare for me, but, wow, look at that uniform!!! Charles seems to think I'd end up marrying some guy who went through OCS due to my erm uniform fetish. Haha, liking something doesn't mean I gotta have it =P I just have a greater appreciation for uniforms (not including school uniforms, and the PAP attire, too...... I don't know.. doesn't look that nice).

The show segment was another one of those corny performances. How many times do we have to sit through the NDP show when all they tell us is how Sang Nila Utama and Raffles founded Singapore in their own way? Every year, we are "treated" to a 30 min lesson on the history of Singapore in different, but equally corny ways. I only liked the one in 1998, where I went for the preview with my primary school, only because we got KFC!!! Muahaha..KFC!!! Thank you KFC for the free 2 piece chicken and the whipped potato 7 years ago! This year's NDP song was mediocre. It was pleasant to the ears, I'd give it credit for that. I just didn't like Rui En (is that how you spell her name?)'s vocals. It sounded...pleasing, but lacked a certain ooomphf to it, lacked power. Taufik's was only so-so. Man, hahaha, how the song would moooove sales if Clay Aiken sang it, but he wouldn't, 'cause he ain't Singaporean. Plus, I don't think Clay would do such a teeny-booper song. The chorus.. it felt like it was repeated a dozen times during the song, to the extent I got sick of it. Lol.

After the show, I was bored enough to give Shooting Stars, a show I am HIGHLY SCEPTICAL about, a try. IT DIDN'T IMPRESS ME. David Wu's accent's a total turn off (although at least, he isn't faking it, I hope). Syl still puts me off, I remember my "pig" comment about him which most of you won't know but almost landed SOMEONE into trouble for pasting my comment and using it as part of his MSN nick haha. Daphne sounded breathless just singing, god knows how she made it past Singapore Idol. Olinda... is just.....not someone I'd support haha. She's not the Singapore version of KLocke, if she were, I MIGHT reconsider. Taufik's part was plain boring. Jessea's character sounds superficial. There, what I though about the individual characters. Put together, and you get a less-than-mediocre show. No offence to the SI fans, of course. But sometimes, singers should just stay singers and keep to what they do best, even if they're not the best in their trade.

Ok, I talk too much, getting back to studying. Cya

I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
