For the first time in what seems like 3 weeks, blogger is finally back to normal!
While blogger is back to normal, my laptop isn't. It's being very laggy (so I'm running a scan for adware and malware, I shouldn't think the problem to be viruses as Norton antivirus still works on my laptop, at least I hope so).
Anyway, I finally got my visa application approved, so that means skipping work on Friday afternoon to go down to the embassy to collect my passport (we can only collect it during the golden hour lol).
Let's just say that the woman handling the payment for visa applications at the US embassy was a little mean-spirited. She was rude, refused to speak up or speak into the mic (all of us were guessing what her instructions were) and one poor man was reprimanded when she failed to issue him a receipt and he was left standing at her counter, confused. Otherwise, the application went well. The officer who handled my application was really nice, I got my approval within 5 minutes of seeing her. Of course, I had to wait 30mins to enter the embassy, that part could use some improvements, really. And the waiting time in the embassy itself? Pretty long. From the time I joined the queue outside the embassy (10.12am) till the time I left (12.50pm), I went from eagerly anticipating to be out by noon to becoming famished. I wouldn't know how other embassies conduct their interviews though.
There were a handful of students going to UCLA as well at the embassy today, I managed to meet up and talk to 2 of them. Plus there was this nice flight attendant from Singapore Airlines there getting her visa done as well, I didn't know her, and don't know her, but it was nice having company (small talk with a stranger, lol) while waiting for our turn (except the woman who handled the payments mixed up my queue number with that of the flight attendant's, proceeding to write my queue number TWICE and so I appeared for two interviews, the first of which wasn't meant for me but the flight attendant).
By the time I left the embassy, I threw out the idea of swinging by campus to drop off a form, deciding to go instead on Friday as I need to collect my passport (and hence have to go out as well). Well, at that time, food seemed more appealing than travelling an hour to drop a form off before making a 2hr journey home.
I notice the standard of English for this post is below-par so forgive me for that. Normally my English is so much better but I've had a sleepy day and my brain isn't working very well.
Come Friday, I would have settled like 80% of what needed to be settled before heading off for LA.
Onto scarier stuff, the exam results are coming out in little more than a week. >.< Labels: Misc, UCLA |
