Richard Preston has a really odd habit, well it's not odd for an author.
Let me elaborate.
He dedicates his books to people. Normal for a writer to dedicate publications to people who they were inspired by or people they love. I'm into my 3rd Richard Preston book (this time smallpox, the first was about a fictatious virus called brainpox that combined the infectious capability of the rhinovirus aka the common cold , smallpox and some moth virus that together, causes a sufferer to look like a Lesch Nyhan sufferer- which means you're mentally retarded, mutilate yourself not because you want to, be because you HAVE to, go Wiki it-. Second book I read was about Ebola and Marburg, both haemorrhagic fevers)
Strange when you're a writer who writes about frightful, doomsday viruses which cause fatal infections to which there isn't a cure, or a vaccine to prevent infection.
Dedicating a book all about smallpox/ebola/fictatious viruses which combine the most lethal combination of characteristics of REAL viruses to someone you love/admire? WOW.
In a truly strange, quirky and morbid sense, if someone were to do that for me, heck, I might be touched! But that's just me. You wouldn't be surprised if you really knew me. After all, I'm the kind of person who would name a virus/microbe after myself if I discovered it.
If you must know the names of the books, here you go. First book I read: The Cobra Event Second Book I read: The Hot Zone Current Book: The Demon In The Freezer
