Just read this on the news today, some UN official apparently said the New Orleans disaster is worse than that of the Asian Tsunami. Hello?!?!?! I beg to differ. I happen to think the UN is rushing to butter up with the US, after all, the "big, mighty" US ain't afraid of the UN. For one, there is a HUGE disparity between their death tolls, seriously, who are you trying to kid? Plus, the Americans had it coming, they KNEW it was coming, unlike the Thais, Indonesians and Sri Lankans.. they KNEW, that's the crucial difference, they KNEW and some chose to ride out the hurricane, so am I supposed to be sorry that some of them didn't make it? By choosing not to leave, some of them essentially CHOSE to die. The Asians completely didn't see it coming till it was too late, if given a choice, heck, the death toll might have been a mere fraction of what it is today. Moreover, New Orleans was an "accident" waiting to happen. Being situated below sea level, what the hurricane did was to, well, in a way, open the floodgates, and so... the water came in. Also, the US has the resources to help her own people, if help is too slow, then it merely shows how inefficient the government can be in getting help to the civilians (I'm not very surprised by the absence of the Red Cross, or the lack of their presence. If the government can't do much, the Red Cross probably can't too, the government will have to pave the way first, plus.. the American Red Cross does have its own problem to deal with, although they're unrelated to this issue. I wonder, why does their NRCS always end up in trouble? Maybe not always, but theirs tend to make the news for the wrong reasons..hmmm)

Of course I will not be completely unsympathetic, because, after all, people did die. Sure, it will take time to rebuild, and for the victims to get their lives back to normal. Maybe there will be a health epidemic with all the waste floating around (like the Asian tsunami victims didn't have that problem), but then again, you are looking at what is possibly the richest country in the world (which ironically has a huge BOT deficit? heh, sorry that was econs *smirks*), so yea, they could afford the necessarily measures needed to prevent such an outbreak, as well as the measures needed to rebuild New Orleans, Lousiana and the other affected states (and I don't think other Americans would leave their fellow citizens in the lurch). It all boils down to planning and efficiency now, if you asked me. Obviously that hasn't been achived, if it had, we wouldn't be reading about all these looting and gun fights in the media, lol, put the Singapore government there, and all of them would end up in make-shift jails *just j0king, seriously!* Put then again, put the Singaporean government in their shoes when they just found out of the impending hurricane, they would probably

1. Scramble to evacuate the very, very important Lee family first (lol)
2. Evacuate all their politicians , esp the PAP politicians
3. Evacuate all the prominent businessmen/women like Sim Wong Hoo, Olivia Lum (Ho Ching already left with the 1st group, remember ? =P) and all the heads of the government statutory boards
4. Tell the citizens to leave the country, haha JB would be flooded!
5. And the rest of the Singaporeans would scramble up any tall buildings available, considering they're all over the island, it's not going to be difficult, simply go to the highest level of your nearest HDB block, or simply stay in you offices (assuming you work in the CBD)

Hotel occupancy rates might just shoot up, since our hotels tend to have outrageously tall buildings (just look at the Swissotel!). But of course, you would first have to take the proper measures so that the hurricane won't kill you before the water gets its chance lol. So yea.... start hiding under the beds everyone.

Lol, I'm trivialising such a major issue when I shouldnt, yikes. I have to stop doing this, my apologies to anyone (American or not) reading this, my bad *extends olive branch*. But I seriously think America shouldn't have a problem getting through this. Still, all the affected victims have my condolences

Onto other stuff, I look like a sheepdog now (as I claim on MSN). Took a pic to prove my point (Charles, I blame YOU) and then I get at least 6 ppl commenting about it.

This online contact, who I met from ROSE, yes, the strange Level 80++ muse who went around buffing people for free lol, I think his name is YingChao (hmm) started calling me a mei nu (or nv in pinyin), which means.... *get ready to puke, ok?* pretty girl. William seems to agree. EH?!?!?!?! Me?!?! Pretty?!?! Yea RIGHT! The day that happens, every single woman on earth would be considered gorgeous. Lol.

Ok.... I need to get back to studying (plus I need a shower lol).

Oh the picture in question? This one

I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
