I dreamt that I collected my exam results and found out that I had failed TWO subjects. Their names? Rent and Other Allowances. 2 terms I ONLY see at WORK.
You know you've been working too hard when work starts creeping into your dreams.
Needless to say, I woke up feeling pertubed, disturbed, disoriented and afraid. Such that I broke out in tears for a few minutes (the thought of failing the exams terrifies me). Wednesday, 4 more days away. Can I take 4 more days of this? Fear is an understatement of what I'm feeling now.
My not-so-secret sweet stash at work is diminishing by the day, not by my own fault 'cause I haven't really been eating it. I blame the Phantom Sweet Eater (PSE) at work. PSE comes by every now and then, if when we're around, asks for the sweets. And when we're not? We come back to find sweet wrappers on the floor. Nice. PSE, think you could try throwing the wrappers into the bin next time?
I have interesting personalities at work. First we have Oven (ex-I at work), who'll be leaving soon. Then we have PSE. The 5 managers are strange.
Manager one, whom I shall call SHIT! for his habit to always exclaim 'SHIT!".SHIT! has a fake laugh, and speaks in a funny I-am-not-Singaporean-in-fact-my-accent-doesn't-belong-to-anyone-on-Earth way.
Manager 2, code-named Gummy Bear, only because he amused all of the temporary staff a great deal by offering 2 of us Gummy Bears.
Manager 3, Rara (ex-A, my manager). She's named so because that's how she baby-talks to someone whom I suspect is her daughter. And she talks with the sickeningly sweet voice. Sometimes, I wonder if she's patronising her clients. Then again, maybe it's the way she speaks. You know, her telephone voice. I mean, my telephone voice (when I'm calling strangers) is very different too.
Manager 4, Scary Face. Why that? Because she looks fierce, unfriendly and just plain scary when she doesn't smile. But underneath it all, I truly believe she's a nice lady, as with all of the managers, maybe except SHIT! (he's the MOST FEARED manager).
Manager 5, whom I haven't come up with anything yet 'cause I hardly see her around.
Anyway, the one thing all of the managers have in common would be the way they laugh. It sounds forced. People who've heard it (meaning my colleagues) would know.
Anything interesting person at work? S, the nice and friendly permanent worker at work. I'm S's favourite (so-called) temp staff because I don't suan (colloquiallism, meaning to put down) her. And now I'm stuck doing her JJ files (which I've finished! After a week!). I don't mind really, 'cause she reminds me so much of my secondary school Additional Maths tutor, whom I liked a lot.
Yup, I have 7 interesting people at work. Enough to keep me semi-entertained, I reckon. Work is still boring though.
Watched March of the Penguins today. Great show, heartwrenching when some of the animals die. But for girls, it's worth your while to watch it, even if it's just to see the awfully adorable penguin chicks. After watching it, it makes me want to have one of my own, only to be reminded that it's cruel and they grow up. And I got to 'show off' my documentary prowess when I successfully identified the leopard seal before they even said his name! Yes, the stuff watching documentaries every night in secondary school does to you. If only I had Animal Planet and National Geographic at home. I don't, no wonder I go overseas just to watch them! Anyway, the show portrays a very self-sacrificial side of the penguins. Male penguins starving themselves for months to protect their young. And being able to regurgitate food to feed their chicks despite having not eaten for months. If only human males could be like that (not literally, but you get the drift). Antartica is truly a BEAUTIFUL place. Beautiful, yet deadfully harsh. You win some, you lose some, I guess.
Time for a shower, then I'm gonna try playing the SIMS 2.

P.S. I replied to the email from Manchester Uni and made a boo-boo by mis-spelling the Recruitment manager's name. I sent him a 2nd email to apologise but I still feel like an a$$. =(
I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
