Star Wars + Hwa Chong Choir Concert =)
Oh wow, an entire week without updates. So anyone missed me? Guess not.

It's now officially the June holidays. Yea right. Holidays are never holidays. Anyhow, back to the week i went MIA.

Last week of school, which meant no tutorials for us. Yay. Monday, well let's not go into it since it was uneventful, considering it was a public holiday, thanks to Vesak Day. Tuesday, lectures, lectures, lectures. Somehow, we managed to push civics up and ended the day at noon, after which i ran off and caught Star Wars Ep 3 =). My trip there with a certain friend *ahem* to a TM meant meeting some people i know from FAU (ok, only 1) which led to me getting some flak subsequently in school. -.-''' Anyway, Star Wars was ok i reckon. Kinda ruins the movie for you when you already know the ending and can't help hoping that Anakin Skywalker would return to the good side. Oh well. Some classmates complained about the effects, something abt the sounds not matching the action, but i didnt exactly take note of that lol. Some pretty corny lines were in the script *shrugs*, oh well, wonder if it was natural for the character to say corny stuff like that. And General Grevious looked and acted too ill to be of any threat to Obi-wan Kenobi. Plus, what a name!!! lol, General Grevious. Ya think they could have conjured up a stronger character to face off with Obi-wan? I still dont like Hayden (ironically that's my cousin's name) Christensen (spelling???). Firstly, he aint that good looking *bleurgh* and his acting isnt really all that good. Mace Windu died too easily imo. Geez, i would have preferred it had he gone down in a more spectacular way, like die fighting, not screaming 'cause Anakin cut off his arm (which i thought Anakin shouldnt have done, the Sith Lord was obviously just playing with his mind. Seriously, ya think Palpatine would let Mace Windu kill him if Anakin let him?) Other than that, it was also pretty pathetic how the other Jedis that went with Mace Windu died without fighting. What is it supposed to show? That Mace Windu is a great Jedi? Another thing, when the Jedis were being massacred, why is it that Yoda seems to be the only Jedi who can sense the massacre in the erm Force? You mean the other Jedis couldnt sense it? They sure acted like they couldnt, which doesnt exactly make sense, so what is Yoda's the best they had? You mean the others arent Jedis? I didnt find Natalie Portman's acting when Darth Vader was strangling her very convincing. And Padme Amidala died too easily. Plus, her early death doesnt make sense when Leia Organa described her mother as beautiful but sad (almost sounds like Leia knew her mum), unless of course her adopted parents told her so. Anyhow, what i did like about the movie. Mainly the fight scenes. Esp Grevious VS Obi-wan, Yoda VS Palpatine and Darth Vader VS Obi-wan. The Mace Windu VS Palpatine simply doesnt make the cut.

Wednesday to Friday was Titans and Sports Carnival days for me. Tiring, it was (lol, ok, i'm lame, shoot me). Titans, as a whole, was very frustrating for me. *Flashback to Titans 2004 for me* This time, they got lucky, considering there were hardly any injuries. But the planning was atrocious. What I told the i/cs to look out for, they neglected. Horrible planning. I was changing the duties as i went along, but eventually, they worked out fine (i think mostly the year 2s' credit). Our Year 1s were MIA for the most part pfft... Sports carnival showcased their poor planning a 2nd time, but at least that too worked out (no indepth analysis this year). Wasn't pleased with OAC, for not being able to decide on their starting times. Next time, trust the participants and the Houce Comm members, not the organisers lol.

Saturday, i went for Hwa Chong Choir's concert. Wow, yup, that's really all i can say. WOW. No wonder they got a Gold with Honours at this year's SYF Central Judging. WOW. Comparing the TJ Choir (went for their concert last year, which i thought and still think was/is nothing much) and the HC CHoir, the TJ Choir certainly looked like amateurs. Their Year 1s were already the standard of the entire TJ Choir (arguably, better) (Their Sigulempong was nice). Their Year 2s were spectacular (LOVED Burung Kakaktua). After the first set of songs from the HCJC choir, in came the alumni choir, instead of singing indonesian, fillipina or african songs, they chose latin songs! Well some were latin. Anyway, i found Marcia Corale nice, heh, very upbeat =). Up next was the HCI choir. OMG, 2 GIRLS!!!! ONLY 2 GIRLS!!!!! Now this one didnt sound as good as their seniors. They shouldnt have sang Kyrie/Kum Ba Ya. They should have stuck to songs like Workin' On the Railroad. After the HCI Choir, the HCJC choir came back, this time singing Sleep and the 2 pieces that won them the SYF GWH. Didn't really like Sleep as it was too slow and well.. soothing for my liking. Out of the 2 SYF pieces, i liked Bin-Nam-Ma. That one was really, really nicely down. =) And lastly, before the finale, their alumni came in. Out of the 4 songs they sang, i enjoyed Tsubasa, Hey Jude and Penny Lane. My apologies but i dont have much of an appreciation for Chinese songs. The guy who sang solo for Hey Jude, WOW. Really, really good. Last year at the TJ Choir concert, there were tons of solo parts but none of the choir members pulled it off as well as this guy. Compare this; TJ Singers --> shaky voices, definitely nervous. HC Alumni Singer --> Cool, steady, calm collected, sounded GREAT. Shufen even commented that this guy is almost Clay standard (lol, the litmus test). This guy should go for Singapore Idol, he might just win. Charles of TI, doesnt even come close. I wont say much abt the Finale, since i dont really have an appreciation for it. But we got an encore, in the formed of a combined Hwa Chong Choir singing Sigulempong. Wonderful, i say. For those of you wondering how it sounds like, here a link for you ( i didn't hyperlink it, too lazy)

Anyway, i ought to stop now, been at this for almost an hour. Cya

I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
