Bird Attack!!
I just had the fright of my life this morning. Ok, maybe not. But it was a fright nonetheless. Guess what I saw? Yes, judging from my entry title, I saw a BIRD.

What's so scary about that you say? Except I saw in in my KITCHEN, frolicking by the WOK. Mind you, I don't live in one of those landed properties in Singapore because doing so would require you to be filthy rich or be the desecendant of a filthy rich man. Instead, I live in a CONDOMINIUM. Supposedly slightly higher class here with all the pool facilities, gym and tennis courts, which are absent (mostly) in government-built HDB flats. But just for the record, I actually miss staying in a HDB flat, minus the possibility of being followed home at night, which almost happened to me TWICE since I moved in and stayed at the condo. And I think if I were to stay in a HDB flat, my old fear of going home alone at night would come back out and you would see me dashing home everytime I returned home later than 8 in the night.

Anyhow, back to the "story" (it's 100% real, by the way, NO exaggerations! I swear!!). Let's see... I woke up at 10 in the morning (after sleeping at 2 plus at night), and then wanted to go bring down the chicken (which will be LUNCH) and I saw...Chipsmore! With hazelnuts. Of all the nuts in the world, macademia and hazelnuts rank the top2 , with macademia nuts winning by a hair length. Ok, so I decided to have a mini-breakfast (albeit a late one) and treat myself to TWO cookies. Tried to find a container to put the rest in, decided not to lest the tray below it in the cupboard fall on my head, giving me a concussion and I went to the dining to enjoy my cookies first.

As I was doing that, munching on my first cookie, I heard something.... Orignially I though it was the chicken(still a bird!), because it sounded like dry ice being placed in a cup of water, and I thought "maybe the chicken was too frozen??" . Until the noise persisted and I went to check it out. Before I got to the kitchen, at the kitchen doorway, I saw IT. This black mass frolicking at the WOK. The moment it knew I was there, it flew off. Ok... now my heart is beating a little faster.. and I went after it to check to see that it was gone, Stood by the door and peered at the window, and I saw IT AGAIN. Damn! Not gone yet. And knowing how its possible to scare birds away with loud noises, I banged the refrigerator's door.... and the bird flapped its wings..and took off...but..it..flew..into..the..kitchen AGAIN!!! Now images of being attacked by birds (courtesy of the black swans!! Now you know why I don't like living birds!!) flashed across my head. I wasn't about to be attacked by one tiny black mynah and run back into the safety of the dining room (such a coward, right? Can't help it, I'm faint-hearted. Pity the guy who ends up with me eventually , if it happens, imagine having to put up something who refuses to go near living birds, runs at the sight of lizards and needs BOTH Baygon and tissue to kill a cockroach)

Anyhow, I stayed in the safety of the dining room for the next 10mins before deciding to venture back into the kitchen, you know, just to check things out. By then the bird was GONE (yay!!) and things were safe once more. So I just changed my cup of water (paranoid), put the cookies into a container and got the hell out of that place. Until time for lunch, which should be soon. Maybe 11-ish? Noon-ish? Next time, I can assure you that the only bird I will be going near would be the birds in the Jurong Bird Park and none of my future kids will EVER keep pet birds. Sheesh, these things were evil as dinosaurs and after they become birds, still so evil!!

I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
