Pictures of Christmas Gathering
About half my of squad mates came over today for our annual Christmas get-together. The first time most of them stepped into my home in the 6 years that they've known me. Yes, sad record, I know. Haha.

In the end, we only ate slightly over half the amount of food that was bought, resulting in a LOT of food being brought home by the various people, which included a LOT of chicken wings, sausages, crab sticks, cuttlefish balls, marshmallows and ice cream (which is sitting in my freezer). Other than that, my feet are aching from running up and down (between the barbeque pit and my apartment), as well as in and out (of the condo, bring people in and sending them off).

Slow start to the event, with the early birds staring at each other making empty talk. Then XQ decided to shift the drinks cooler, holding it by the cover, which resulted in the cooker overturning, and our orange squash ended up on the floor. We cleaned it up and waited for the 2nd batch of syrup to come. Things really started coming along close to 8pm. I helped with the cooking for a little while, and by the time I came back down from my apartment after going up with Elaine to collect the drinks and konnayaku jelly, I found that my slot was taken and spent most of the night eating.

The meal was followed by the toasts (using sparkling juice, because it is illegal for me to drink for another 8 days haha) and the "mandatory" photo-taking marathon. As of now, I shall await for the photos to fall from the sky and into my gmail inbox haha.

Anyway, I got quite a surprise tonight when some of them went out to get a mini birthday cake for me. My first birthday celebration with people not in my family, come to think of it, my first REAL birthday celebration (I don't think of the annual birthday dinner with the family as a celebration as it is really an excuse for my brother to order what he wants and for me to eat everything that I hate). While they were singing the birthday song, I mistakenly thought that it was meant for Humairah (haha) until I realised that it was probably for me (when the digicam started following me around). SO yes, thank you so much for the celebration. =)

Gifts were exchanged and opened. I had a bumper crop of presents, I swear. It's the largest number of presents I have ever seen in my entire life (I am not joking, nor am I exaggerating). 3 birthday presents and 3 Christmas gifts.

From Zi Ting and Co. Who thought it would be interesting to give me a SKIRT because I told them once in secondary school when the question "DO you have any skirts?" was posted to me that I do wear skirts, although that's only the school skirt.

Again from Zi Ting and Co. I seriously think they're trying to make me more feminine *raises eyebrow*

From JiaXin. Cute mug, and LOTS of Hershey's chocolates inside.

From JiaXin again, this time I think for Christmas. Yes the first 3 were birthday gifts. Haha, 2nd time I've gotten something like this (the first time, Humairah gave me the "Moonflower" shower/bath set, which till today, 2 years on, remains...unopened. I have to get around using it someday o.O

From XQ. Her ancient present which has been stuck with her for a year. Candles.... Try to read the words on it if you can. No, she isn't in love with me. What on earth were you thinking?!?!?!

From Elaine. Generic gift from her to everyone with a personalised message.

And my generic gift to everyone? One peppermint candy cane, one small packet of M&M chocolates (I was thinking of getting the peanut version, only to realise that some people, unlike me, may dislike peanut M&Ms!), one Christmas gum pop and one stick of Dove Amicelli chocolate. Not very creative, but I tried to make it as Christmas-like as possible, since I'm bad with crafts and the whole presents thing. Was thinking about buying gingerbread men, and then gave up on that idea when I remembered how much I hated eating them.

Ching Huey (who was my gift exchange recipient) got a somewhat big Christmas sock with the generic gift inside and a soft toy (snowman!!!)

I keep getting asked out recently. 2 tentative dates with 2 groups of people over the next 6 days? One with the HuiPing and Co (Elaine, I really hope the 2 of us won't be sitting at MacDonalds resting our feet again, although I think it is highly possible) and another with Eveline and Filina. No guarantees, I gotta know the details first. If they clash *raises eyebrow*.... haha.. I've never been kite flying.... =S But then again, I haven't done a lot of things in my life.

Back to the squad gathering. It was quite disappointing that some people like Woon Ting and Yee Chien didn't turn up. But then again, I didn't go last year because the internship was really draining and left me with insufficient time to catch up on my holiday assignments. And it was sad we didn't get to dunk anyone and throw them into the pool.

A week to Christmas. 2 days till the Hwa Chong choir start carolling. People, go support! Conrad and Fullerton. Got it?

Movie marathon tomorrow. Plus feeling too tired. Aching back. Inviting bolster. Heavy eyelids. Yes, I need to sleep. Will be back.

I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
