Work was...busy. I mean it. We went in at 8.25am, started doing serious work at 9am, and worked non-stop (with the exception of a 50min lunch break) till 5.25am. What I've been doing the entire day would be churning out DOZENS of questionnaires and REDOING almost 20 questionnaires because the template was WRONG.
Not to mention I never really woke up today. I went into the office a tired person and came out an extremely tired person.
The permanent staff there only seem to come in close to 9am, whereas the temporary staff have to be in by 8.30am. The permanent staff leave for lunch at 12noon and we go at 12.15pm. We come back from lunch at 1-1.15pm and they come back at 1.30-2pm. At least we generally leave earlier than them =P
I don't really know what I wanna blog about, I'm just really tired from work now.
Anyway, it turns out that Friday is going to be a half day at work (because the bosses decided to be nice and give it to the permanent staff anyway). But no one, absolutely no one, bothered to tell the temporary staff. So it either means they can't be bothered to tell us or it doesn't apply to us. You can almost see the segregation of the temp staff from the permanent staff.
Work brings a whole new meaning to weekends. When you were in school, it simply meant no school, but time to study for tests/exams or finish up your homework. As well as time to go out with your friends. When you're working, it means COMPLETE freedom, free from your bosses and annoying permanent staff members who are disliked by most of the temp staff. It means NO WORK at all, it means time to catch up on your sleep, and time to unwind and regain your sanity after a hectic week at work. School is nothing as compared to work because school doesn't require you to churn questionnaires out for 9 hours continuously. School only lasts 7 hours max (lessons). School ends at 1plus for secondary/primary school students and 4plus for junior college students. Working adults end at 5 or later. The only good thing about school is that you have a lot more leisure time, you're not too tired to make use of that time and you have 10 weeks of holidays (more like 16 here). When you work, every day, you start a countdown to 5.30pm. Every week, you start a countdown to Friday evening. Every month, you start a countdown to pay day. And every so often, you start a countdown to a public holiday. Work is all about countdowns, at least to me. Every day, while on the train, I'll chant to myself (and my poor friends) the number of days left to Friday. Drives them NUTS.
2.5more days to the Lunar New Year. 8 more days to my blood test. 14 more days to my dental surgery. Everything is a countdown
I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
