I just read something so incredulous while doing my readings for one of my courses that I thought I was born in the wrong Singapore. "At Jurong, the eastern side of the island, a major port was constructed to service the industrial centre there." (Singapore's Economic Transformation, Trocki) Does the guy need a map? Has he even been to Singapore? For those of you who don't know how Singapore looks like, here's a map. Can someone explain to me, a Singaporean, how it is even remotely possible for Jurong to have migrated to the East (where Changi is) for the author's book and then migrate back to the West where it's always been???? The last time I checked, I passed geography in Secondary School with decent grades (an average of a B+ to an A). I don't think I've gotten my directions mixed up! Labels: School |
