2 More Papers...
I am so sick of studying for the upcoming papers that ANYTHING seems like a better option than studying. Well actually, that mood kicked in early yesterday morning (around 1am) when I was still studying for my microbiology paper (which is over!!!).

I was about two thirds through my lecture notes when my brain just gave out and decided that packing my room seemed like a more pleasant thing to be doing (as opposed to studying). I then proceeded to spend the next 20 minutes clearing the mess on my tables! LOL. Now my room looks significantly neater than it has been the last 2 months (you kind of know if I've been studying based on the 'messiness index'- the messier the room, the more I've been studying) which makes me feel happier when I get home (but reminds me that I'm not studying due to the lack of.. what else? Mess).

My earphones, my beautiful ear phones that came when I purchased my ipod Nano a year back, may be wrecked. I'm hoping it's not. I accidentally left it on the table, with the laptop cooler- and the accompanying laptop on the cooler- sitting on part of the ear phones for what? 2 weeks? =( I'll test the earphones when the exams are almost over to see if they need replacing (I hope not, 'cause those are pretty darn fine earphones!).

I'm supposed to be studying for my upcoming Life Forms and Functions paper (it's this Saturday and I haven't started because I've been too preoccupied with the first 3 papers to do anything about the last 2) and it's obvious I'm not. Sigh. Now I have to force myself to WANT to study for the remaining 2 papers.

On the other hand, 5 more days!!!

Phoe

P.S. In case you don't know yet, I'll be leaving for China (again, seriously, I think my family failed geography because the last time we cleared Shanghai, they said 'no more China' and we're going back to CHINA again. Since when was Kunming not part of China??!?!?!). I'm not too sure about the departure date, I think it's either the 6th or 7th, and I'll be gone for approximately a week. Now why can't we EVER go anywhere nice? Like LA? Of course I've already been there (without my family- travelling is always more enjoyable without the family, especially when you have MINE) but you can NEVER get sick of LA. Or the UK? France? Italy? Switzerland? Japan? WHY CHINA?!?!?! *bangs head against wall* =( I'm so sick of CHINA and THAILAND. I'd actually rather stay in Singapore. Sigh.

So I'm weak, I didn't meet my quota for yesterday and fell drastically short of it. I was supposed to finish Cardio last night and get started on my 2nd round of food microbiology. I'm STILL at Cardio (just started on exercise physiology) because I couldn't take it anymore and went to bed at 2.40am. Sigh.

Why is there a ton of things to memorise JUST for immunology? :(

*sobs*

It's so unfair. Why am I mugging away from 8.45am till 2.30-4.30am daily and my brother hardly seems to be studying? Ahhh.. Am I in the wrong course? o.O

The Nightmare is about to begin!
Reading week has officially started and let me say, just for the record, that I am completely unprepared for the exams. Things have been utterly crazy the past 7 weeks, ok, not really, but things HAVE been really crazy for 5 out of the last 7 weeks. And the remaining 2 weeks was spent on letting my brain get some rest (2 weeks out of 13 academic weeks!) considering I got close to ZERO rest during recess week 7 weeks ago.

Anyway, there is a tonne of things to be accomplished in the next 9 days before my first paper kicks on and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get everything in (which makes me wonder what I'm doing here- taking a break from food microbiology, that's what I'm doing!).

So things in the URGENT pile?

COMPLETE Immunology (first paper), Cardio (2nd paper) and Microbiology (3rd paper) while retaining as much knowledge as possible.

And then go through said 3 modules for a 2nd run through.

Should I be lucky enough to STILL have time, then Life Form and Function it is.

I'm gonna leave the Cultures module till the 29th. Hopefully 2 days of cramming will be enough, or else, there's always the S/U option.

So, yup, now I really have to get back to studying, considering I've already lost the whole of tonight with the wedding dinner that I have to attend.

I survived my first day of school with the new hairstyle. With one friend telling me I look more studious than ever (lol) and that I also look like Lexie Grey of Grey's Anatomy (double lol).

Today has been a semi-productive day, at least I'd like to think so. I've covered 4 sets of lecture notes (which together with the work done over the weekend, makes 13 sets of lecture notes) and I'm now working on my essay. By 'covered', I don't mean studied, I mean went through. Lol.

I finished my Arts readings for the semester!!! And I've somewhat done my lab report, as long as I don't have to rewrite the whole thing (which I might =()

Now I still have that 'assay' to work on.

I know I'm not being myself when while naming my file (on the computer where I have part of my cardio essay stored), I almost name it 'Respiration Assay'.

Only my lecturer calls 'essays' 'assays'.

Down to the Wire
I have a lab report that constitutes 10% of my final grade due tomorrow and I'm still not done with it! I'm still pretty freaked out 'cause I'm actually not really sure on whether my biological sketches are right. :(

And then there are things like Food Microbiology where the professor is so bad, I wanna cry. I'm serious.

At least I'm about to finish my Arts readings. (Scant relief though)

I still need to teach myself everything on Food Microbiology and T-cell development because I have useless professors that are utterly inept at teaching. Every week, I waste at least 4 hours of my life because I have useless professors.

Yup, so back to the lab report I go while I await the printer to finish printing my notes for tomorrow.

I just submitted my family tree and kinship essay today! I also submitted my cardio essay on Sunday night. Not to mention completing the cardio test last week. I FEEL LIBERATED!! At least for a day :)

I am so thankful that the lab report that I was supposed to have to write and submit by this coming Friday was cancelled by the professor. BUT that still means I have one CA to study for, one essay to finalise and one term paper (plus a family tree) to complete. ARGH.

I think I should be a little worried when I get back my second Microbiology lab report and see that for the 2nd time, my TA has NOT written a SINGLE comment about how I can improve on the report, despite getting another A. Sheesh, kinda makes me wonder if she even read it or she just gave me the A for the sheer number of words used.

Over the course of one day, I've read NINE scientific articles, consulted FIVE textbooks and now I'm mentally drained.

This recess week sucks. I'm busier than during normal school weeks. And I still have 2 tests to study for. And a family tree to draw. And an essay to write. A 2nd essay to write for another module. And a 3rd test to study for.

I want Snickers (the original one) but it's been yanked off the shelves since they're made in China and I don't need kidney stones.

Recess Week is finally here but I'm SWAMPED with work. Actually it doesn't sound like a lot, but it feels like a hell lot.

I need to
1) Start on my family tree (done! Now I just have to transfer it to a nice board)
2) Catch up on my readings which I haven't done in 2 weeks because I have been BURIED in work
3) Study for my Life From & Functions test which is the Thursday after the break The question now would be can I remember what I studied?
4)Study for my Microbiology test which is the Friday after the break
5) Start and hopefully finish my cardio group assignment (it's definitely not done, but I've started)

And then there are social commitments
1) A secondary school friend's surprise birthday bash that is being organised by another secondary school friend on Thursday night
2) Lunch with my university friends on Friday whom despite seeing everyone of them except the one girl who's enjoying life in SWEDEN, the entire group hardly ever gets to meet

Not to mention there are things I WANT TO DO, like
1) Finish watching the final 4 episodes of Boston Legal Season 3 on DVD
2) Watching GREY'S ANATOMY SEASON 4 (HELL YEAH! Before local tv has it!!!) on DVD (thanks Sweetie! Heh, fantastic anniversary present :D )

I am semi-over the moon right now for no good reason other than I emailed my TA my essay for him to have a run through it and he replied saying that it looks good! Lol. Which means I didn't spend the 2-3hours pouring over the essay in vain since it looks good.

And then the professor for my arts module is on sabbatical and a graduate student took over her tutorial for today. Now the tutorial usually lasts 2 hours but the graduate student ended it at 3pm (after an hour) and told us "just for the record, you guys ended at 3.45pm". Roflol. Love it when they do things like that! So I managed to get home earlier than expected :D

[Delayed Post]
If you've seen what my status says on Facebook, you'd notice that I've got so much work, I would probably swim in it.

Things due this coming week:

Tuesday: Arts module tutorial
Wednesday: Cardio practical and post-practical quiz
Thursday: Immunology CA AND Essay due for another module
Friday: Microbiology Lab Report due.

5 things, 4 days. YUCK.

My immunology lecturer's pronunciation got a LOT worse yesterday. He was talking about IL-12 (interleukin 12) which came out as "I-ORRE-Chuelve"

By the time I realised that he was referring to IL-12, I had effectively missed the entire point.

And then there was blood "selam".

I feel so screwed for the test. In fact, I feel so screwed for the coming week.

I FINALLY managed to catch up with last week's stuff. Ugh, now to do my share for this week. Sigh.

On a happier note, Grey's Anatomy Season 4's DVD goes on sale tomorrow! But just not in Singapore. Boo.

My 3rd year in university is really starting on a bad note. My Teaching Assistant (TA) for microbiology lab is really just unhelpful, to the extent that I actually think that she's being LAZY.

Why? Well I had my first lab session on Friday and it was then we were told we would have to submit FIVE Practical Reports for this particular module, the first of which is for that particular practical. Anyway, she refused to tell us what we were expected to cover in the report, which all the other TAs briefed their students on, and did not tell us if we were expected to include the specimens observed at the demonstration bench in our report which all other TAs are including but looking for completely different things. So I think that it is included, the question that remains would be 'What am I supposed to write about them?'

My readings for the Arts module I'm taking is horrendous (albeit not as horrendous as the history module's readings that I took in Year 2 Semester 1 but definitely worse than that for the sociology module's back in Year 1 Semester 2). Some articles are interesting but there are a few out there that belongs in this 'I have no idea what you were thinking when you wrote what you wrote in your book other than the sheer thought of appearing educated, intellectual and that confusing readers, especially those who are still undergraduates, would be particularly fun' category. So yes, that sums up the cons of that module, other than the horrendous assignment that we have to do with requires me to dig back 4 generations on my lineage, considering that people in my family typically don't live long lives.

And now, I have a craving for a bowl of noodles. Preferably, hot, and soupy, which can only mean one thing. INSTANT NOODLES.

My Photo
Name:
Location: Singapore, Singapore, Singapore

I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
