I'm beat... just returned from the hospital. Last night, my dad had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital in the wee hours of the morning. I guess we always knew he was going to get one, it was only a matter of time. After all, the family doctor did warn him, we just didn't expect his warning to "bear fruit" that quickly. Saw him 15 mins before the attack and he looked fine.
It felt weird, you know? Seeing your own father lie on a hospital bed with all these tubes and machinery around him? As much as I proclaim (so regularly) about how much I detest my family, I guess when it matters, it's still important to me to be there, I couldn't live myself with it if I were absent. So I was pretty riled when the slob asked "what for" when we were going down. Remind me to leave him alone in hospital should he ever end up there.
What got me pretty riled was also that the hospital took over 12 hours to conclude that it was a heart attack. 12 hours.. how is it possible for a hospital to take that long to decide that a patient had a heart attack? By then, some areas of the heart had already been damaged. If it were bad enough, the patient could have died. 12 hours, simply unbelievable. When I first went there, he was in a general ward, it was ONLY after they confirmed it was a heart attack did they decide to move him into the ICU. If they said that there was a higher chance of getting a 2nd, more fatal heart attack within the next few days of the first, shouldn't they have kept him there in the first place, just in case?
I'm being rather incoherent now...lol. So screwed for this coming week. None of my homework's done, i'm only done with 24 pages out of 42 for the econs test. My organic chem and biochem notes are as good as untouched. Which means... I should get started. Gonna have to burn the midnight oil tonight, but I don't wanna end up going through the next week on an average of 4 hours of sleep per night. =S
I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
