2 letters came in from UCAS today. One from Liverpool (finally??)
Good and well, not-so-good news.
I have conditional offers from Liverpool and Cardiff.
Liverpool is asking for BBB (basically), including Biology Cardiff wants ABB (OUCH)
And then I log onto the UCAS website to check, and this is what I see....
Conditional offer from Newcastle (ABB).
What is it with the universities and their obsession with ABB? Lol. Maybe it's not an obsession. Maybe it's a competitive year. And no, my application status to Manchester still isn't there. At least now I know I have 4 offers of some sort out ouf my 6 applications, which is a pretty nice track record (I haven't gotten rejected...YET... *touch wood*, neither am I hoping that it'll happen anything soon). ABB... ouch.. what I can tell you is that I can probably land you that A in mathematics, but Bs in biology and chemistry? I dare not say, except I am still hoping for the best.
I should be expecting another letter from UCAS soon I guess.. this time about Newcastle and maybe the Manchester one will come with it. It's such a gruelling experience, waiting for the replies to your applications. Yet, it's worse, more gruelling, taking the GCE A Levels AND waiting for the results (due in late Feb 06, tentatively, according to a school tutor). Maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up too high about an unconditional offer, I'll just stick to hoping Manchester doesn't throw me another crazy ABB (lol). Just give me a BBC, BCC or even a BBB. Of course, like I said, I'm hoping.
And yet I wonder why is Manchester the only university to bother sending me a whole stack of documents by courier that reach me in 3 days and the others either don't care enough or send me a letter dated almost 10 days ago. What? Is Manchester richer?? o.O
I just realised, I could have tried applying to Law, and then get conditional offers asking AAAs, which is just ever so slightly above ABB, haha. What can I say? BTW, I have close to zero interest in law, excluding my morbid interest in criminal law, and the family doesn't take too kindly to the idea of a female criminal lawyer. They think female criminal lawyers are out to get themselves raped or something *shrugs* The way Asians think, what else can I say? The way ASIANS think (I'm one myself, so don't scream discrimination, or else I'd be discriminating against MYSELF. Yes, dumb, ain't it?)
Another thing I noticed. Manchester's letter is the ONLY letter that addresses me as Phoebe. The others really just stick to Miss Lee. Suddenly I sound so old. Yes, dear ole me, who has GREAT difficulty in looking her age (people keep calling me 14/15!! -.-) has finally been called MISS. Can I laugh now?
I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
