I can no longer put this off any longer, 'cause if I do, it'll be the new year when I do it, and I can't let that happen, after what I promised in an earlier post
So here you go, 5 strange/random facts about me
1) I have a mole, right smack in the middle of my forehead. My parents used to tell me it was because a lizard did its..*ahem*...business on my when I was young one night as I was asleep. Of course, I didn't buy that. It just sprouted out on it's own, much like the rather big one on my neck. Pious Taoists and Buddhists (which include my mother, who would want to remove so many moles on my face but leave that one intact, as well as the hairdresser who used to cut my hair since I was young, till some time this year when I lost faith in her definition of "a bit") keep telling me it's some "Kwan Yin mole". Just because the boddhivistta has a mole there makes it HER MOLE? Interesting. I'm not gonna fight this though, even though I've been given hell by racists calling me an "Indian" and a "trash pick-up" over it. Not that I dislike Indians, it's just how many Chinese I know (adult, more like middle-age and the elderly) feel towards them. Let's just say they put the term "multi-racial harmony" to shame.
2)I am very picky about the books I read. This may not be strange, but it is random! I finished Memoirs of a Geisha last night after 9h30mins of reading. I never once thought I would finish the close to 500 page book in a night, but I did. My, that beats the time I took to finish Clay's book(on the train, over 3 days)!! As a fan, I am ashamed. Anyway, I can tell if I will like a book (normally), by the first chapter. If I can't stand the first paragraph, chances are I can't stand the entire book. I loved "The Midnight Fox" (which ranks as one of my all-time favourites, which makes reading it for literature back in sec 1 so wonderful). And hated "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry" after the first page! I don't read very often, but some books are way too good (like Neil "Dumphwee's", esp "Notes from an Even Smaller Island")
3) Halfway through! Charmaine, you are going to pay for this.....haha. I have the uncanny ability to remember insignificant stuff, right down to the name of the school bus driver back in kindergarten. For all my great powers of memory, I an inept at remember important stuff like buying bread for my mother to feed the 2 trolls I have at home. Selective memory, anyone?
4)I haven't touched a game console in YEARS. Let me count...1..2..3....... oh 10 years. Haha. The last game console I touched was a Nintendo. Touch meaning played with one. The time I used YOU's XBox to select stuff to play the VCD/DVD doesn't count. Haha. On the other hand, the SIMS 2 happen to be my first REAL computer game that I played for more than a few weeks.
5) I consider myself a feminist, but I'm not exactly a true-blue feminist in that sense, as are most proclaimed feminists as I like to think. I want things like wage equality, no statistical discrimination against women (Mrs Than should be proud, remembering these over a month after the 'A' Level economics exam!), respect for women, harsher laws for abuse against women and the likes. Well, who asked men to be born with more muscle and strength? Haha, although quite a number of men actually are abused by their spouses, which I will be objective and say that men deserve them too. So if we have a Women's Charter, maybe we should create a Men's Charter as well! But to me, that's how far equality should stretch. I still expect men to show that level of chivalry expected in Medieval times (haha) although I am sorely disappointed almost all the time except when it comes to a certain person (YOU). Most men seem to have forgotten how to act like men. Do they think clubbing the women over the head to assert their dominance makes them "MAN" enough? No, rather I think what makes them men is knowing how to treat women, even though women do sometimes treat them shabbily. It's the level of civility they're expected to exhibit that marks a true man. If every guy were like that, heck, I probably won't really care for feminism anymore. Hahaha. Or maybe not...There you go, now true feminists would come out with their claws for my neck. So excuse me, while I try to find a place to hide from them.
And now it is my turn to torture other people. To the people who will be mentioned:
Please post an entry on 5 weird/strange/random things about you. And then tag 5 other people to do the same.
I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
