OT? Fire Me!
What an angry week the past week has been. Shit! the manager, yes, his code name is "shit!", had the audacity to ask the permanent staff in the office why we temps weren't working overtime. Just because he's nuts enough to work 7 days a week doesn't mean we temps (note we are temps, and our contract stipulates that our working hours last till 5.30pm and we derive no OT benefits, yup, no meal or transport reimbursement, so why SHOULD we work OT?) have to do the same. It's not as if we weren't finishing our work (as he implied). And when we did do OT, why wasn't he asking the opposite? Why are the temps doing OT? He's blind when we do do OT and keeps tabs when we don't. Mentally deranged fella.

So he's pressured the permanent staff enough for them to start dumping their work onto the temps, enough work to pull 2 of them (at my last count though there could be more casualties, including myself, in the weeks to come) back into the office on a public holiday. I really feel like telling him "Want me to work OT? Here's an easier solution; FIRE ME!"

Went out with the squad on Friday. Nothing fanciful. Just met up for a meal and to walk around. Went to the ICA on Saturday to change my passport photo where I spent HOURS queuing and waiting and ended up spending only ten minutes with the officer. -.- Then I took my mum out for her Mother's Day lunch and proceeded to People's Park to check the travel agencies there out. Hahaha, she was disappointed to find that the too-good-to-be-true ($399 for 8 days in Shanghai) deal was only till June and not July (when we're intending to travel). So we're back to square one; waiting and looking around for travel deals.

We're in the middle of May, yippie. Next week, it'll be College Day. The week after we'll wave goodbye to May and hello to June. Every day brings me closer to 30 June. And hopefully one day closer to the day I will receive my letter from NUS which is still MIA. Damn. Nice to know that most of the people I know have received offers from the courses of their choice.

It just dawned onto me just now that I had no idea where my Valentine's Day card from YOU was. I tried finding it, and I can't find it =( I have Fuddles (still in good condition), the bag (can't bear to use it 'cause it's creamed coloured and I don't want it to get dirty), the flower's gone 'cause it dried up and the card's missing=(

I haven't caught a single movie in this blockbuster month of May. No Mission Impossible 3, no Poseidon , Da Vinci Code and X-Men 3 aren't out yet. Hmmm. At least I've got the 4th season of CSI to keep me occupied.

And guess what? I just found it! The card! I found it =)

It's the 14th of May. As of today, I have 7 more weeks to the end of the contract.

35 more working days.

Yes, sigh away. Another stupid countdown of mine. I need to find ways of amusing myself you know?

Ok, I'm off to catch an episode of CSI. Yes, bear with me. I know this entry isn't exactly organised.

Phoe

P.S. *pukes* I just heard the Health Minister claim he's going to try helping the middle class cope with our rising health costs. Yea right. They don't give a shit about people stuck in the middle class.

P.P.S. I haven't got a jacket to wear at work tomorrow. And for the next few days. I forgot to wash it after bringing it home. *Gulp*

Location: Singapore, Singapore, Singapore

I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
