I know something is truly wrong with me when I read in the news that LA was hit by a 5.4 earthquake and the first thing on my mind was "DAMN!!! Why wasn't I there?!?!?!"
I am so proud of my students. Of the 8 students under me, 4 in each group, one of the groups actually managed to clinch the SILVER award at the competition they took part in. What they did was definitely not easy, considering they're a bunch of Secondary 3 students. And they did it! In 3 weeks.
And then there's my fantastic dinner tonight. I met up with a few university friends for dinner at Cafe Iguana and the food is unbelievably good. Seriously, the nachos are TO DIE FOR. You haven't tasted nachos until you've tried theirs. The Fajita was decent and the Chimichanga was pretty good too. I'll be dreaming of their nachos for the rest of the night. *Pure Bliss*
As I recounted encountering a particular Chinese teacher of mine back in JC to a friend
Some excerpts
I say: i saw our chinese teacher on the bus yesterday I say: on my way to meet my friends I say: on bus 12 I say: PUBIC HAIR! I say: or so -one of my close friends in JC(censored for privacy)- calls him (a while later) I say: yesterday i boarded the bus to get to the mrt station, went to the upper deck, sat down and realised there's this guy sitting diagonally to my right reading a chinese script, looking uncannily familiar I say: until i noticed his hair I say: and then it struck me I say: omgwtfbbq! PUBIC HAIR! I say: lol (and yet some time later) I say: now the thought that i might bump into him in the future disturbs me I say: i didnt really have anything against him I say: except i felt he was a really uninspiring, unbelievably boring teacher I say: who couldnt teach I say: and had a mop of hair on his scalp that resembles something it shouldn't resemble Friend says: hahha what a way to describe it.. haha.. mop of hair.. ahah.. it does look like a mop of *censored* hair
I have to say though, I wasn't the one who came up with the nickname!! But it's really apt! And I just realised, I only know him as 'Pubic Hair'! I don't even know his surname which is really the proper way of addressing him.
I was surfing the net when I came across this banner.
It's not very big but the Singapore 'flag' is most definitely there. So now, we have a language of our own! Or so some deluded company thinks. Oh and American and British English are so different they really ought to be 2 separate languages. Right......... o.O
There's a particular Indian female security guard at the school I work at who seems to adore me. I've been there a grand total of 4 times and she recognised me after my first trip there.
She seems to take the late afternoon shift so I don't see her when I report at the guard's office to get a visitor's pass. When I leave though, I'll see her. The 2nd and 3rd trips, she took the liberty of asking if I would be coming back.
Then this evening, as I was leaving, I said my goodbyes, gave her a smile and the next thing I knew, she was telling her partner about me, calling me her 'sweet, sweet girl'.
Just the other day I lugged my organic chemistry textbook (which I used in my very first semester in university) to work so I could use it as a reference book should the students (who are embarking on a chemistry-related project) need it. The 2nd group of students (different project) saw the book and asked if I used it in junior college. I said no and that if they were adventurous and in the mood to scare themselves, they could knock themselves out flipping through the book.
The next thing I knew, the following transpired between 2 of the students in that group.
Student A: Woah... This looks so confusing, never seen any of these before. See already, don't feel like studying .
Student B: I feel like sleeping after seeing this.
Student A: You can still sleep? I feel like fainting!!!
I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
