I'm beat, not as beat had I worked the entire day though.
Yes, today I left the office at 12.30pm. =) I left and ate at Gelare, I treated myself to their half-priced waffles (try it with Butter Pecan, it's not bad!). Teresa was supposed to join me, but she was occupied so I went alone (shows how badly I wanted waffles). On top of that, I had a bun. Yes, I had a heavy lunch.
I've received my letters of recommendation from my tutors, so at least that is done with! Now I'm left with the essays and certs (to be xeroxe).
Well last night, I worked overtime, till 7.40pm. I worked till my eyes were sore, till I saw stars and still I saw the return of Oven. Yes, Oven came back! I was staggering back to my desk when I heard someone chirp, 'HARLOW PHOEBE!' I turned back, and was mortified to see Oven. After mumbling a 'hi' back at the household appliance (just kidding), I went back to my desk, packed up, and left. This guy at work gave me a major scare last night.
You see, part of my job scope is to do anything I'm made to do, and I was made to pull out certain documents from individual files, xerox them and put the originals back. What I did was to pull out the files I need, get the documents out, xerox ALL of them, and then put the originals back. Somewhere in between that chain of events, this guy comes and removes ONE file, eventually leaving me with ONE document I had no file to put in. That made me jittery and nervous, thinking I had somehow misplaced a file, and I spent the entire night sitting on it, worrying. It wasn't till Elaine told me THIS MORNING that he took the file.
Not to mention that guy is turning into Oven Number 2, by that I mean he's giving me work (and not the others, Oven did that for the first 2-3 weeks), in fact, too much work such that I can NEVER clear my stack. Say I have 3 pending assignments, just as I'm 80% done with the first one, he comes over, and drops 2 more assignments on my desk! Maybe this is part of working life, but it sure ain't pleasant. When you're free, you're just too free. When you're busy, you can't breathe.
So I am glad I worked half day today, because today was threatening to turn into another day like yesterday. I left the office during lunch time, got my tutors Tiramisu cakes (to thank them for the favour), ate a delicious waffle, met up with a dear friend, caught up with my tutors and shopped. Yes, shopped. I didn't get the bag I want, not that I have any in mind, but the bags I saw... Let's just say NONE of them were the kind I wanted to get (tiny sling bags meant for casual use. By tiny, I mean small enough for a brolly, wallet, keys and a pack of tissue paper to go in). The ones that caught my eye (handbags and large sling bags) were too darn expensive (yes, when you're spending your own cash, you're a lot more conscious of the price tag, not that I wasn't conscious beforehand, but the significance is different. In the past, it was "it's not nice to spend so much of my mum's cash", now it's "erm.. I'm only earning $XXX, spending it on this isn't really worth it"). I wanted shoes, but didn't get it 'cause there were none I like. I got.. 2 tank tops and 3 shorts. The irony, I need more work clothes, nicer clothes and I end up buying SHORTS and TANK TOPS.
Maybe there is some truth to women buying everything they DON'T need after all. Ok, I could do with a few nicer shorts, and tanks. But it could mean overload when it comes to the number of t-shirts and tanks I have. I number at DOZENS of t-shirts (mostly course t-shirts, class t-shirts, school-based t-shirts that I now wear at home).
It was nice though, because for the first time, while at a mall, the salespersons weren't trailing behind me like I was a potential shoplifter (they do that to A LOT of students). I was wearing my work clothes and basically, people thought I had the spending power to match my dressing (not that true).
Ok it's time for dinner. Will update another time then. Cya!
I'm bloated right now, and I'm unable to sleep (too full).
Anyway, I caught V For Vendetta (yes, the VITAGEN movie) and Teresa, you would LOVE it. You absolutely have to catch it if you haven't. Yes, it is a political movie, but it poses some rather interesting arguments. I won't try to spoil it for you, but in the movie, you see the plot draw similarities between the fictitious ruler of the UK and Hitler. Arguments like using violence in the name of justice. Absolute power corrupts. And one quote I bet almost everyone never thought I would ever use (from the movie), 'God is in the rain'.
I played Civilisation (the game). I think it's nice, seriously. I managed to finish one game (the tutorial, so I bet it was annoying easy), with a LOT of help as I was getting by. But I finished it. =) Nice!
I will be taking the afternoon off this Tuesday. Teresa, Ms Teo says we can do down after 2.40pm, Mrs Than says around 5pm. So I guess you won't be able to see Mrs Than then (and Ms Teo will be a bit of a rush, the visit I mean). I am so sorry, I have another problem, how the hell will I pass the 2 hours between meeting Ms Teo and Mrs Than? I can...
a) get a new bag (yes, I'm dying to get one, one way or another, of course, the cash needed is putting me off. Heh) b) walk around Bedok Central c) sit in school and 'stone' d) go for a not-so-quick bite e) new shoes? (cash problems!!!)
My dogs went for their annual vaccination today. The surprising thing is, the one guilty of gluttony isn't considered heavy (she's TINY) whereas the one who runs around non-stop is heavy!!! But they are awfully well-behaved now. =) I don't think they even felt the jab, since none of them tried to attack the vet.
April's around the corner, and I can't wait for April 15 to be over (have you filed your taxes?). Maybe after it, I can finally get some proper rest.
You know you're working too much when this (look at the picture) is right next to you (on your right) 8-9 hours (if you're lucky) 6 days a week. By the way, since the day this was taken, the number of boxes (and files) have increased.
I've just gone through another exhausting week at work, although I've managed to hitch rides home two days this week, courtesy of YOUr mother. =) And yes, I thanked her, profusely. THANK YOU AUNTIE IF YOU'RE READING THIS.
I don't even know why I said another "week" of work, when my work week isn't over yet. I'm going back to the office tomorrow for what I expect to be another full day, or 3-quarter day. I'm taking half a day off on Tuesday to go back to college to collect my 2 letters of recommendation, which I need for the scholarship application. Which reminds me that I haven't quite started on their HORRENDOUS essays. Maybe I'll buy some of Secret Recipe's delicious cheesecake for my tutors, just to thank them, although I didn't quite like the Cappucino Cheesecake (despite liking coffee-flavoured things, although I hate the beverage on its own. The cappucino cheesecake has a little too much caffeine, and when I get a caffeine overdose, I end up with a headache).
Last night, my mum dragged me off with her to attend some photoshoot within the CBD. It was quite a bad experience I would say. The service was good, the studio was quite shabbily done and then the salespeople were too pushy. They didn't know when to stop, which ended up in my mum becoming cranky, and me becoming offended after a further 15mins. In the end, I snapped at them, and we walked off with the 2 free shots we were promised. To think beforehand, I WARNED my mother about such stuff, telling her to check thoroughly that they weren't going to try scamming us into buying something, which they did (it being a $3000 privelege card).
My ankles are swollen now, this being the result of running around in heels for a week (not the primary cause) and due to my extreme carelessness (almost tripped and twisted my ankle slightly on 2 occasions this week, the impacts accumulating to give me a slightly swollen ankle). On top of that, I'm tired. Sigh, not a good combination. I can't wait for the end of tomorrow, and hopefully I won't be back in the office on Sunday.
Now I have a thousand and one things I'd like to do. I'd like to have swensens ice cream, gelare waffles, secret recipe cheesecakes. So many things, but you know what? For the sake of my wallet (and my waist), I think I'll pass.
On the bright side, it's pay day!!!
Time to get into bed. Will blog soon! At least I promise to try. Hopefully there will be something with a little more substance
I have to get this off my chest or else I'll drive myself mad.
Nothing has made me mad, or upset. It's just a really corny thought keeps popping in my head.
You know the movie, V for Vendetta, that's currently being screened in local cinemas? I confess, whenever I hear the movie title, or see it, I automatically go (mentally, of course) "V is for Vitagen, it's good for your digestion!"
Here's the catch, as much as I like to think that it'll go away on its own in a couple of days, this corny thought has been plaguing me for almost a WEEK.
I am a corn-loving, corny Capricorn.
Don't get me wrong, I love the plot, I'm actually rather interested in catching the movie. But you seriously don't expect me to plop myself into a seat and sit through the movie, while thinking of VITAGEN every step of the way, do you? That is one hell of a disturbing way to watch a movie.
My university applications are DONE! Woohoo. I've applied to both the National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University.
NUS: Medicine, Science, Arts and Social Sciences, Bioengineering NTU: Biological sciences, Socioloy, Economics
Now it's time to focus on my scholarship application. One week to write 2 essays. SIGH!
According to some website, my birthday means that...
Your Birthdate: December 26
You lucked out the the skills to succeed in almost any arena. Put you in almost any business or classroom, and you'll rise to the top. You're driven and intense, but you also know when to kick back and cooperate. Your ability to adapt to almost any situation is part of what's going to make you a success.
Your strength: Your attention to detail
Your weakness: You can be a little too proud of your successes
My work week is finally over, and I'm heading for a ONE-day break tomorrow. Of course, tomorrow won't really be such a break. I aim to complete my university applications tomorrow, and I will be heading down to Orchard Road to collect my book! There goes $39. Lol.
I have a craving, this time, it's not about food. I've been craving to get myself a new bag, that, and a new pair of shoes. I may cave in on the bag thing, just not the shoes. It's too much hassle breaking in new shoes. Even the shoe I bought last month, which is half broken in, is still breaking in, especially at the front, the back's perfectly fine.
I've turned down yet another tea reception invitation by a government scholarship body. Don't tell my mum 'cause she's really going to skin me alive for doing so. The thing about me is that I'm not scholarship-mongering. I'm not applying to everything scholarship body that awards them just so that some organisation pays for my tertiary education. I want to be able to do something I like. So even if they were to allow me to choose my course of study but make me do something I dislike at the end of the day, then I'd say "no thank you". This is one of the times where idealism beats practicality. A little idealism is good once in a blue moon, except this time, I'm afraid most people would say, is the wrong time for idealism to be winning.
My dad's godfather (which makes him my erm god-grandfather?) is turning 71 in a couple of weeks. Strange. I never knew he even had a godfather! It's going to be at some hotel. ARGH. Chinese food (again), anyone?
I can never type in the proper manner, I can't say that no one taught me because people did try, I just loved my current typing manner a little too much to change. While people like them advocate typing with all ten fingers, I make do with eight (minus the thumbs, and when it's 6, you take the pinkies out too!). Most of the time, six. And I manage, pretty well I should think. Of course, it's a whole new ball game when it comes to laptops. 2 months since I've actively started using one, I'm still struggling to type with it. The keys are all over the place, and they just feel so different.
I worked for 6h 30mins today. Hopefully, they won't deduct anything for CPF purposes again. I mean, it's my OT pay!! It is CPF-exempt, right?
I'm having a bad week. It's only Tuesday and I already know it's out to be a bad week. My pessimism at work, once again.
Over the weekend, I slammed my own THUMB with the car door, thankfully it didn't swell, but it's still aching like hell.
I got scolded at work for doing my work. Twice.
On Friday (the prelude to the dark week), Gummy Bear and Rara had a slight argument over something I did, and Gummy Bear insinuated that I had screwed up and made a mistake. After more arguing, they finally came to the conclusion that what I did, was CORRECT.
Yesterday, S gave me an email attachment to print, which came up to 170 pages, I have no idea what was it, but it was a HUGE file and I was told specifically to print the attachment. So off I went, printing 170 pages, and it didn't help that one of the printers in the office had broken down and there was now a queue for the printer in my area. Anyway, as my print job is processing, 80% done, Gummy Bear, whose document is waiting to be printed, comes out looks at the stack of uncollected documents and proceeds to reprimand me for it. Gummy Bear said "if you know the email is going to be useless, then don't print it!".
Needless to say, I felt indignated and offended. I may be just a temp staff, but that in no way means that I have to be subjected to their verbal abuse. I'm doing their work, being paid a miniscule amount of money for it, and I try my best not to complain about it. And now I'm getting scolded for doing something I've been told to do?
The 2nd time I got scolded happened today. And it was Gummy Bear again. Damn Gummy Bear. I'm going to hate Gummy Bears for the rest of my life. And I got scolded over the online system, because I wasn't "properly trained" over the terminology. Has it ever occurred to anyone that I'm not an accountant in training?
I am now handling/helping out with FIVE major clients. Someone take the files (of all 5 clients) and smack me to death, please!!! The clients must think I'm the new accountant. They keep forwarding all the emails they send to Rara to me as well. And I'm NOT SUPPOSED to be interacting with them!!! Ok, it didn't help that I spoke to the client on the phone, TWICE. Under orders of Rara, of course. So every now and then, I open Outlook Express and see messages from D*****. Ahhhhhh....
5 MNCs, I'm about to jump out of the window and plummet 30 storeys to the ground, forming a murky, grotesque puddle of blood. Why, oh why? Why me? 5 MNCs. 5 freaking MNCs!!! And I'm not even drawing the pay of a regular accountant!
It didn't help that I developed a headache in the late morning today. So I sulked, sighed and frowned my way through the entire day. I am in such a bad mood I can't even bring myself to go for a secondary school class gathering tomorrow. Yes, I am officially 100% cranky.
And goodness, I can't stand bad handwriting. I admit, mine isn't fantastic, but I like it to be legible. I spent 15mins deciphering the handwriting of The Big Boss (TBB). TBB's handwriting is so bad I couldn't make out the word "SINGAPORE".
The printer in my area then went wonky in the late afternoon. I'm working with a wonky printer. I have a LOT of filing to be done for the 3 companies that used to be under Oven.I have to re-update the online projects because of the mix-up in terminologies. All 15 pages of it.
The newest MNC is driving me up the wall because the information is all over the place and the projects are considered URGENT.
I find myself in a fix when one employee of the client finds himself missing a Notice of Assessment (NOA) for LAST YEAR. And the headache goes on, the details I shall keep to myself lest it be too specific. It's not as if you can't tell who I'm working for but argh, it's making me fed up thinking of it.
The laptop LAGS. Never ever use IBM laptops. Ok, maybe not ever, at least not the ones I'm using at work. I think the laptops must be considered the great, great, great grandfathers of modern laptops. They take 5minutes to boot and fully load, and it's not even running 20% of the programs my computer runs. The screen goes blank when you run a new program. The "keyboard" is highly user-unfriendly.
On a brighter note, I like the Nikon Coolpix S5 and S6 a lot. Of course, the cash is pretty good too. People like me are resigned to forever admiring things they like and never buying them. Whoever said life was fair? Lol. Of course, I could dig out and find out ways in which these products suck and then console myself by saying "thank god I didn't get it!". Lol. Sour grapes, anyone? =P
I wanted to do this last night but was TOO TIRED to try. Not that I'm not tired now, but
TAKE CARE AND GET WELL SOON =)
Yes, YOU're ill again, I wonder if it was the same bug you gave me, which almost led to me getting knocked into by a speeding boy (lol) and missing my stop. But since YOU were sneezing a lot more than in the morning, I reckon it's a different bug kicking into action. I am wondering if YOU passed the bug to YOUr sis though, since you conveniently passed one of your bugs to me =P
Anyway, I shan't gloat, and I'm NOT GLOATING. Lol. Just a little shout out to say take care and get well soon. And that applies to YOUr sister, if you happen to be reading this (lol).
On the other hand, I have more-or-less completely recovered from that disorientation-causing flu bug. It's nice to know my immune system is cooperating (gone are the days where I'll take a week to recover from a persistent cough). Of course, I took some leftover medication (the appropriate one!) that I kept in my room. One miserable tablet left though.
I am beat. Elaine and I have more or less completely taken over Oven's work. She's handling a company of about 50 clients, and I'm handling THREE with a combined total of close to 80!!! Ok, at least I'm not doing the killer company with 188 clients.
Rara is leaving it seems. Word's going around from pretty reliable sources that she's leaving around the time I'm leaving to care for her kids. And I've been getting a LOT of work from her lately.
Just today, I called IRAS 3 times, and the client company D TWICE. No temp staff has made a call to a client thus far this year, until today. I practically camped out at the telephones for over an hour making the calls.
So today passed really quickly, mainly because I was overloaded with work. And I did my 4th straight day of OT in the week. Every day, I've left at 5.45pm-5.50pm. Not much for OT but I'm not packing up at 5.25-5.30pm like on my not-so-busy days. 15 mins is quite a lot, 15 mins is enough for me to draft a letter, update the online system, print emails, photocopy and scan documents, etc.
Work was boring, as expected. The perm staff are starting to get really stressed out, it's becoming obvious that the stress levels are rising. S was so stressed out she didn't even want to talk. Lol. On the other hand, it means the temp staff are finding themselves with more free time. Elaine and I spent close to an hour doing nothing.
Today, we "nicked" a drawer, and it was Oven's old drawer. Elaine and I have been drawer-less for 2 months and today, we decided to get ourselves a drawer. So now, all's fine and our desk looks neat!
We are running out of places to go for lunch. Is working life really so dreadful and boring? We do the same things every day, eat the same food every week, go through the same thing every month?
To end off, some pictures!
A Fuzzy Picture of the 4 of us outside Cafe Cartel
EH captured a photo of me trying to make a grab for the erm.. knife.
Don't ask me what I was doing. I don't know. Teresa trying to shun the camera/ Lol.
Shu Hui and I, at Bugis during the gathering last Saturday
I had a loooong day at work today, although the first half was considerably more enjoyable than the 2nd.
I'm still thinking about my university choices, and the application opened TODAY. One month to decide and I can't pick my 1st choice, but what the heck, the whole selection process for medicine is starting to put me off. Not to mention, I'm HORRIBLE when it comes to interviews. So it will most probably be life sciences for me.
The whole going to UK thing is going down the drain for me. For one, even if I do get a scholarship, I'd most probably not meet the deadline to reply to the universities. And my parents are expecting me to stay in S'pore.
My uncle (paternal) came over last night, which was odd because he never ever comes over.I walked out of my room for a cup of water when I bumped into him, me being at home, spec-less, couldn't recognise him till he was about 10m away. He then said "I heard you did quite well for your A Levels and are considering Medicine" It was then I realised my parents yabbled about my results and he's doing some buttering up 'cause as I excused myself and went back, I overheard him saying "first real doctor in the family". Sheesh. Trust my relatives not to be so status conscious. Of course, I don't think anyone told him about my pretty strong inclination towards the life sciences.
A colleague of mine and I were talking on the train, mainly about how we wish the company would erm retrench us before the contract (30 June) after the tax filing season (15 April) 'cause we were so sick of working there. I like the people there (SOME of them ok), but I hate the work.
I started on my PSC scholarship applications and don't think I will make the deadline for A*STAR. Haven't exactly got time to sit down and write the 2 essays, AND mail the form over. PSC's one is a lot easier, it being electronic. Hence, I may be making the call to give up on A*STAR. Man.
My preferred courses in University, in order of preference:
1. Life Sciences with a concentration in Biomedical Sciences (NUS) 1. Medicine (Microbiology) (NUS) 3. Biological Sciences (NTU) 4. Economics (NUS) 5. Sociology (NUS) 6. Economics (NTU) 7. Sociology (NUS) 8. Psychology (NUS)
Well, 8 is enough, ain't it? If I don't get into any of them I'd kill myself by jumping into the murky waters of the Singapore River! Lol.
Ok, I'm going to go to bed soon. Re-watched Moulin Rouge on tv last night, and I STILL love it. Teresa, did you watch it? Ewan McGregor's in it. Lol.
I have something to confess. I had a hair cut, AND a hair treatment. Courtesy of YOU. Ok, ok, I know I should have paid. I wanted to. Really. I'll give you a treat with my next pay check (next week), ok?
So my hair is now less tangled (I noticed!!!), shorter and a lot (I mean it) more layered. It's a nice change, but it needs some getting used to.
Bad news: My managers want me to go back to work over the weekends. I think I was supposed to work today, but we weren't notified. And then they asked if we were available next weekend, but we (Elaine and I) said no as ALL local universities (full unis) were having their open house. SO it looks like I'm work-bound during weekends from the 18th of March.
It's a little daunting that it's ALREADY March.Which means I've been working for close to 2 months (next week marks the 2nd month). 3 more months in the workforce before my contract expires.
University applications open this coming Monday. I'm still a little undecided. My mum keeps trying to psych me into Medicine (shows how desperate she is for a doctor in the family) by constantly telling me that $2000++ (normal starting pay) is peanuts and won't go far. I have my eye on genetics (life sciences) and microbiology (medicine), although I leaning more towards the side of genetics. But with such results, I feel a little more driven to make that push towards medicine despite questioning whether I'm the right person for medicine because I'd much rather be a geneticist. Of course, my mother's constantly plugging for medicine doesn't help.
It's ironic that my parents have next to no reaction to my results. It's almost as if it was expected of me. Prodigal daughter who's always done well academically MUST get 4As, anything short of that is a disgrace. I can almost see it in their faces. In my family, praise and encouragement is overrated.
And then we move onto scholarships. Should I apply, or shouldn't I? Yes, although I have the 4As and an A1 in GP, giving me a perfect raw score for university application, I have one Ungraded and only a Merit for my special papers, whereas most scholars coming from the institution I'm looking at gets the same results, except with 2 DISTINCTIONS. The chance of me landing a scholarship is now one in one thousand.
Correction, as Shawn said (6 distinctions boy!!!), we can get a scholarship if we really wanted to, but the question is getting the scholarship we want. Now my chance of having that happen to me is 1 in 1000.
Anyway, I had a nice day. Caught Munich. Nice but slightly gory show. I love history flicks. Other than the haircut, I had dinner with his family at Cafe Cartel. We had a seafood platter for 3 (forgot the dish name) and the ribs. Nice ribs, sweeter than Kenny Rogers, but Kenny Rogers probably wins, only because of the Mac and Cheese. CL (YOUr sister, notice I'm introducing abbreviations and codenames all over the place?) found a strand of hair in the fried batter of the soft shell crab, which managed to get 4 of us a free dessert. Dessert was nice, mainly 'cause I saw vanilla ice cream, kiwi, peach and strawberries inside, which I love. Haha. I didn't choose the dessert, I swear!
Meeting the squad on Sunday. I wonder how many people will be there. Hmmm.... And I hope they'll be punctual for once!
The end of my misery. The end of all that nervousness. Jubilation. Joy. Relief.
Words can't express how I'm feeling right now. For the first time, I'm overjoyed with my results. For the first time at a national exam that is.
I remember leaving the school hall in primary school disappointed I missed entering the Special Stream by 5 points (I had 245 points). I remember leaving secondary school regretting not working harder, leaving the school with 9 points instead of the perfect 6 when I had 8 distinctions. This time, I left the school hall triumphant. I left with 5 distinctions, out of a possible 5, after making the call to sacrifice Chinese (I had a B). I left with 5 As, when I expected 2.
Last night, I was so nervous I made myself sick. The full works. Stomachache, headaches, butterflies in my tummy, crazy thoughts, tears. Everything. This is the only exam in Singapore for the 12000++ junior college students in Singapore that can make or break you. It is the one slip of paper that determines if you enter university, if you get a scholarship, if you get into the course you want. The stakes are high, too high in fact.
I dreamt I failed 2 subjects, I dreamt the look of disappointment on my tutors' face when they saw me again. I dreamt not getting a result slip. Nightmares every night till the release of the results.
Now that I have the results slip safely in my hands, I am relieved to have done well. I may not have truly aced the exams, after all I did get a B for Chinese and an Ungraded for my Economics 'S' Paper (my biology 'S' paper managed to squeeze a Merit out!). But despite screwing up during the economics and chemistry papers, I came out with 4 As. As I was telling friend, even if I came out with 3As and a B for General Paper (GP), I'd be more than happy.
I wasn't ready with what I was about to get.
A1 for General Paper (almost unheard of in my college) A for Economics A for Chemistry A for Biology A for Mathematics Merit for Biology 'S' Paper
I remember accosting my ex-GP tutor when I saw him. When he finally said that I managed to meet his expectations, I knew it, I knew it was that elusive A1. Throughout my 2 years in college, I've always managed to sniff at that grade, but never get it. I remember him adding (a lot of ) pressure, by saying I "have to get that A1". Today, he further stressed me out, and made me so thankful I hit it, when he said "I knew right from that start that Phoebe's the one who has to get that A1". After he said that and congratulated me, a strange thing happened. He gave me a HALF HUG! I didn't hug him back, 'cause it's plain weird and inappropriate. One thing and only thing of the day I would want to forget. Lol.
Yinxue peered into the conference room and saw the board with the lists of students who had scored 3 or more distinctions, and saw my name on the list of students with 5 distinctions. From then on, I knew my results, even before they were officially out. Yes, I cheated. Of course, I didn't believe her, and ended up waiting in anxiety till I saw it for myself. Affirmation.
I am glad that Yinxue got 3As, 'cause that's the very least she deserved. I'm happy to see that Teresa and Eng Hooi did well. My closest friends in college since January 2004 did great. I did great. What else could I ask for?
Perhaps I could have asked that others I know did moderately well. I saw a few disappointed faces around. I saw some crying. A thousand "if onlys". A thousand unanswered questions. I don't even know how to face classmates who haven't performed as well as they wanted to. But I do wish them the best in choosing a course for university and getting it.
I do have people to thank for such stellar grades.
I have to thank 2 particular Biology tutors, Ms Ng Chen Kee and Ms Joyce Teo. To Ms Ng who made me enjoy bio so much, I don't think I would have done so well if I hadn't liked bio so much. To Ms Teo for teaching me, guiding me and putting up with me when I haven't kept my end of the bargain as biology rep. I have to thank Mrs Than, my economics tutor. For her patience, her confidence, her belief, for scolding me, for answering my queries, whether they be economics-related or not. I have to thank Mr Ho and Mrs Goh, my maths tutors for making sure I did well for math, although they never really seem to pay any attention to me (lol). To Ms Tay and Ms Fong, my chemistry tutors, for their constant nagging. To Ms Bliss Tan, who identified my potential in GP right from the start and putting me on a different track as other students. To Mr Tong, plain simply for his belief that it was all too possible for me to get an A1 in GP and for constantly stressing that fact to me.
Today a lot of my tutors were proud of me. Even my Chinese tutor, whom I didn't get an A for. She was proud of me, despite me hating her lessons (I hated that subject to begin with).
I have to thank YOU. For keeping me straight, and focused. For calming me down during the times I cried due to the stress. For being proud of me when I did well. For everything. =)
Now that I've gotten 4 As, my colleagues are expecting a treat from me (and other 4A students). Oh well... Lol.
I'm a 3rd year student in what is probably the largest autonomous university in Singapore majoring in a Science-related subject (well it sorta IS SCIENCE). I'm known to be introverted, sarcastic (at times), funny when I rant (which isn't a good thing lol) and somewhat of a loner. I miss LA and would move there in a heartbeat :(
